About

Hello! My name is Daya and I am the founder of Human Rights Observer. I am a second-year student at Columbia University in the City of New York, where I am majoring in Human Rights before attending law school and pursuing a career in the human rights field. Growing up between the U.S., Israel, India, and the U.K., I developed a fascination with human rights and conflict at a young age. I started this weekly newsletter when I identified a lack of accessible and reader-friendly resources on global human rights abuses, as well as an inherent lack of a human rights perspective within many mainstream media outlets. It is my hope to raise awareness on pressing human rights issues around the world and beyond our immediate communities, in order to help members of my generation to become more informed and provide resources to inspire positive action.
